How do you rehab a dog thats bites and lunges that came to us with dehydrated and with a yeast infection in it's paws. This dog is the second dog in the household. The dog has lunged towards children in the past. The best place to start is by punishing the biting behavior. Do not allow people to pet the dog. Creating a structured environment, including crating the dog, is also key.

Rocket came to us as 5 weeks ago; a 5 year old minipin/Chihuahua mix in very poor health, dehydrated, stressed, etc. He has gotten much better--we've had him 5 weeks. Questions are can this dog ever be dependable--since we've had him he's tried to bite 2 children and my husband, he has bitten me (while I was taking something from him). We need for him to be dependable, as I am a school teacher with two teenage children in the house and lots of people coming and going. We're afraid someone will get bit. Secondly the first meeting between Rocket and our cat scared our cat to death and he has moved out of the house. Can a dog like Rocket be taught to behave himself around our cat?
