What to do about a dog that is showing signs of aggression and the dog growls when being pet. How do you work with a dog that is very nervous around strangers. How do you find the right puppy group to socialize the dog. Clicker and food training when the dog does not react to strangers is a good place to start. Reward in different stages to build the dogs confidence for the dog around people and being pet.

Patricia asks...

My 15 week old Cane Corso is afraid of people and dogs and might be starting to show signs of aggression. When we take her to crowded places she is a bit nervous but has no problems walking past strangers or other dogs. She just ignores them. The problem is when a person tries to approach her. She will get nervous and will start to growl and bark at them. When we have friends over her first reaction is to growl and bark at them. Eventually she warms up and will play with them and get more comfortable. Also, whenever my neighbor stops to talk to me she will growl at her.

Last week we started puppy classes and she was super nervous. This was her first experience up close with other dogs. During the off leash time she spent most of the time running away from the other puppies. By the end of the class she was less nervous, she would approach the other dogs but also started to bark at them. Her aggression is coming from fear and I really want to solve this before it becomes a more serious problem.

Every day in 2017 starting the first week of January I am offering a free 15 minute Skype session with folks from around the world. It can be on Dog Training, Business Building, Social Media, Personal Growth, overcoming fear, client relations or anything else that helps you build your business and build yourself to be better. This is my commitment to give even more free content to the world
